Este Lado, This Side is a collaborative project with residents from various cities along the northern border of Mexico. A portrayal of the lives, memories and future hopes of people living in these communities and the aspect of normalcy which still exists for those who grow up in a place plagued with such a violent reputation. The work deconstructs the complex stereotypes of US/MX border culture, the idea of the ‘American Dream’ and gives voice to the people who grew up on the border or still call it home.

This project is dedicated to everyone who opened their lives and family photo albums to me.
